Scholarship Program

Finger Lakes East JSEC is offering one $750 scholarship for eligible high school students from Ontario, Seneca, Yates or Wayne County who plan to pursue full time, higher education leading to a degree in any area.


1. Applicants must be accepted in an undergraduate program.

Applicants must have a B average, 3.0 GPA or 85 average for at least three semesters, which will be verified by the official transcript.

Application Procedures and Deadline

Applicants must:

Submit a business style resume. Please include the following:

Name, address, telephone number, e-mail address
College and college address you will be attending
Major college studies
High school activities
Offices held in high school
Outside activities
Work and/or volunteer experience

Submit an official transcript
Submit an essay of no more than 250 typed words. Choose from one of the following:
What event(s) and/or person(s) in your life made you the person you are today?
What has influenced your decision regarding your upcoming career and/or education choice?

Submit three letters of reference; at least one must be from someone directly involved in your education.

After the JSEC Scholarship Committee reviews the completed applications, it may be necessary to interview the finalists.  A letter of decision will be sent to notify the scholarship winner by June 8, 2018.

The decision of the Scholarship Committee is final. An award will be presented only if qualified applications exist.

Scholarship winners and their parents are invited to join the JSEC Committee for lunch to celebrate your achievement and to receive your scholarship award. No date has been scheduled at this time, additional details will be forwarded to the winners.
